Friday Garden V (Sunday edition...)

The oregano and basil are flowering

Ripe baby roma - I had two with dinner last night!

Ripening blackberries
Well concealed green tomato

The melons encroach.

More encroachment

New leaves on the quince stick, plus the usual suspects

Sunflowers!

Nectarine stick

I put shade cloth over the tomato plants.  They were not tolerating the heat and direct sun very well.

I've used the oregano and basil in some pasta sauce.  Start with  about 1/2 cup Classico Tomato Basil as a roux, then chop several basil leaves and about a stem's worth of oregano, plus some sherry. Simple yet tasty.  Sun dried tomatoes in olive oil as the spirit moves for something different.
